Living in Luxury With Window Treatment Automation
The smart home has quietly grown beyond just thermostats and doorbell cameras because automated window treatments are making their own name. Once you have shades that open with the sunrise and close at sunset on their own, you’ll start to wonder how you ever lived without them in your life.
At Metro Shutters & Blinds, we’ve been outfitting homes with Hunter Douglas automated window treatments near Marietta, GA, for years, which are among the upgrades many homeowners fall in love with most.
Why Window Treatment Automation is Worth the Investment
Window treatment automation is the kind of upgrade that quietly improves how your home functions every day. Shades that lift at sunrise bring natural light into your kitchen before your coffee finishes brewing, and the same shades close at dusk for privacy without you having to walk through each room.
On hot Georgia afternoons, schedule custom window treatments to lower on the west-facing windows to block heat gain, taking pressure off the HVAC system and trimming your power bill over a long summer.
Additionally, cordless motorized coverings give your space a lived-in look while you’re away by raising and lowering at set times, which is a quiet form of security when you travel. For families with kids and pets, the lack of dangling cords and loops removes a household hazard.
What Are the Best Benefits of Automated Window Treatments?
Here are some of the best benefits you may experience when you invest in automated window treatments for your home:
- Added hands-free routine: Scheduled scenes raise, lower, and tilt your blinds and shades on their own from morning to night.
- Improved voice control: Pair with popular smart home systems like Alexa, Google Assistant, or Apple HomeKit to operate shades using your voice from anywhere in the room.
- Increased energy savings: Window treatments that respond to the sun’s path keep your interiors cooler in summer and warmer in winter.
- Enhanced tall-window access: Reaching transoms, two-story foyer windows, and floor-to-ceiling living room windows is no longer a question of ladders or extension poles, and is simply much more convenient.
- Reduced chores with group control: A single tap or scheduled scene moves an entire room or floor of window treatments at the same time.
Once any of these become part of your daily rhythm, going back to manual operation feels like a step backward.
How Does PowerView® Automation Work?
The innovative and award-winning PowerView® Automation is the engine behind the Hunter Douglas system. You program scenes through the PowerView® app on a smartphone or tablet, run them with the slim Pebble® Remote, or trigger them with voice controls via the PowerView® Gateway; all with the help of Bluetooth® technology connection.
The system is battery-powered and tucked behind the headrail, so the silhouette stays clean, and there’s no rewiring involved. There are various options for how to handle your batteries, including having a rechargeable battery wand, which has a battery life of approximately one year, or a solar charger, as well as a dual charging station, which charges up to two wands at the same time in about three hours.
The PowerView® Automation motors are quiet enough that you barely register them moving in the background, making them an excellent fit for nurseries, bedrooms, and home offices where silence or focus is essential.
